The Golden Burger Challenge is back in Vernon. Hosted by NOCLS (North Okanagan
Community Life Society), this event is all about delicious creations from local restaurants and
building inclusive communities. NOCLS supports individuals with diverse abilities to live
meaningful lives right here in the Okanagan.
Throughout October, you get to vote for your favorite burger from this incredible lineup. Each
bite helps bring awareness to the important work NOCLS does. Stay tuned as we introduce the
contenders. Which burger will win your vote?

1. BNA Brewing – The Okanagan Orchard

Meet “The Okanagan Orchard” from BNA.
This burger is Okanagan flavors stacked high: an 8 oz chuck-brisket-short rib patty with
smoked gouda, aged cheddar, maple bacon, rosemary hickory sticks, caramelized peach and
bourbon chutney, leaf lettuce, tomato, smoked garlic aioli, Saskatoon berry BBQ jam, all on a
house-made milk bun with spruce. It even comes with BBQ kettle chips (yum!)
This burger is local abundance on a bun. Add it to your October list and vote for The Okanagan

2. Stones Throw Café – Hogline Burger
Stones Throw Café brings bold flavors with the “Hogline Burger”. A 6 oz Thai Phad Moo Suh
pork patty layered with nuoc cham seasoned slaw, crispy onions, Thai chili mayo, and topped
with a spring roll.
This one is fresh and playful. Tag a friend you would share this with and remember to vote for

3. Match – Southern Belle Burger
The “Southern Belle Burger” at Match is here to impress.
Stacked inside a brioche bun is maple bourbon aioli, a juicy beef patty, smoked cheddar, brisket,
bacon jam, pickled red onion, sweet and spicy pickles, coleslaw, and a fried pickle.
This Southern Belle is dressed for the occasion.

4. Bourbon Street – The Untamed Boar
At Bourbon Street you will find “The Untamed Boar”.
A wild boar and bacon patty topped with maple candied bacon, smoked gouda, onion, tomato,
smoky chipotle apple slaw, and dijonnaise, tucked into a toasted black pepper and truffle bun.
Served with golden beer-battered onion rings, this one is rustic perfection.

5. The Winston – The Brutus
The Winston presents “The Brutus”.
Buttermilk fried chicken with crispy prosciutto, pickled shallot, baby gem lettuce, grana padano,
cured egg yolk, and sundried tomato tapenade.
The Brutus is bold, layered, and unforgettable.

6. The Longhorn – Pickle Lovers Burger
The Longhorn created a burger for pickle fans everywhere. Think house-made pickle cream
cheese, juicy beef patty, dill Havarti, deep fried pickles, more pickles, bacon, burger sauce, and
lettuce.
If you love pickles, this is your burger.

7. The Kal – Soul Burger
The “Soul Burger” at The Kal brings spice and comfort.
Crispy chicken tossed in gochujang sauce with maple soy slaw, Kewpie mayo, lettuce, tomato,
and onion, all on a classic bun.
This is soul food with a Korean twist. Save this post to remember to try it and cast your vote for

8. Cambium – Leftovers
Cambium created “Leftovers”, a Thanksgiving-inspired masterpiece. Fried buttermilk turkey,
sausage stuffing, crab apple and cranberry relish, Brussels sprouts and carrot slaw, and sage
aioli, all on a potato bun.
It tastes like a holiday dinner wrapped up as a burger.

9. Diner on Six – Braised Beef Birria Burger
The “Braised Beef Birria Burger” from Diner on Six takes indulgence to the next level. A chuck
patty topped with overnight braised beef birria, sweet onions, cilantro, and a side of rich birria
dipping sauce.
This is the burger you dip, bite, and repeat.

10. Alexander’s – The Wild Hogger
Alexander’s entry is “The Wild Hogger”. A wild boar patty topped with peach and bacon-onion

11. Lunch Matters – Becca’s Burger
“Becca’s Burger” at Lunch Matters is the ultimate blend. A beef and pork patty with peppered
maple bacon, a crispy fried pickle, onion-bacon jam, layers of aged cheddar and applewood
smoked cheddar, tomato, lettuce, and roasted garlic aioli, all inside an artisan onion-cheese
bun.
This is a comfort-food lover’s dream.

12. The Fig – Cheddar Late Than Never
The Fig brings Cheddar Late Than Never to the table. The full description is still to come, but
